About The Homegrown Doula
Hi! My name is Brittany McGillivray and I am a Birth Doula & Lactation Counselor.
I am a Mom of 3, my youngest was born in the fall of 2022. So I am in the “trenches” you could say, with having three children in 4 years! I wouldn’t trade it for anything though, its been the most exhilarating and challenging years of my life!
My husband and I live on a farm by Provost, Alberta and are living our best lives utilizing the beautiful amount of space we call our own. From goats to sheep to cows to chickens, we’ve basically raised them all and there is nothing I love better than a challenge.
Even though I’ve ventured out, went to University and worked a variety of exciting nursing jobs, my roots brought me back home, hence the name of my doula business “The Homegrown Doula”. Being a parent, growing a garden, building a farm, and raising animals all require a lot of information, continuous support, endless patience, and a positive attitude, and this is what I am bringing to growing families in the community.
My Philosophy
Birth is a human experience that deserves to be honored. The birthing person’s needs, wishes, and decisions are valued and important. Space must be held for the family to navigate their birth journey. I offer support based on the family’s needs and preferences that are individual to them.
